In preparation for the Derby weekend I have been running around shamelessly. Sadly unable to make it to Churchill Downs this year I have decided that I'll bring the Derby to me. This decision has been leading to "accidental" long lunch breaks and obsessing over all details to be ready for Saturday. Having a checklist in hand I am finalizing my to-do list with a smile because all that is really left is "simple" things; like picking my outfit, how to arrange all the food, put the bar on the patio or leave it inside, table decorations, do I want to make party goodie bags, which dessert to make, do I know how to set up the projector, paint my nails and a few other things. Its silly to think that a two minute race could take this much of my effort, but it does.

By the time Saturday gets here I will be ready for a cocktail... preferably a mint julep (derby humor). Finally, sitting around with my family and friends that are just as enthusiastic about the race as I am. This should make for a memorable 137th Kentucky Derby- place your bet on Uncle Mo and keep your fingers crossed for a Triple Crown.
