Wishing for Woodstock

Surrounded by strangers, the music never sounded so good, rain only made the party better and clothing is always optional- these are just a few of the reasons why people (such as myself) take full advantage of the music festival season. We may never have Woodstock but flowing through our music festivals is the same set of ideals which are just as prevalent in today's society as they were during the Woodstock era. So join in;be a part of what the Woodstock Nation was conveying and listen to the music.
peace, love, and unity by any possible means

Rock Star

When it comes to sports I can become an entirely different person. For instance I have these little tendencies such as; I don't like losing, if I'm not good at it now- I will be, I turn things into a competition and my boyfriend seems to think that when we do any sport together my motto turns into "anything you can do I can do better". This isn't always the case, though. Lately I have really been losing... like to the point of red faced and upset with an inanimate object. This inanimate object I speak of is a total workout in its own right. I tend to go home a little more beat up each time I take it on. There is a love/hate relationship that I have developed with it. Every time I get my nails done it never fails to destroy them. Although, I am starting to understand why it was that my boyfriend introduced it to me. And I admit that he is better at it than I am- much better. So ladies, take it from me that when your significant other says he knows something that you'll love and be great at- run the other way because if you don't then...

Pinky Promise

I am not what I normally consider a 'pink' girl. That color has always been a favorite of my charming older sister. Where as my favorite colors tend to run more extreme and bold or completely neutral- depending on my mood, of course. But like most sisters, even though complete opposites, my taste has become oddly similar to hers. I can only assume that she had it right when she would tell me "big sisters know best". And now I find myself being lured in by the appeal of this color. Its everywhere, all different shades of pink! Unaware that pink had become the new black and recognizing it for its simple appeal, I cant help but piece by piece welcome it into various regions in my home.

Channeling Rainbow Bright

In honor of Easter weekend I took it upon myself to reside in a place that I never spend very much time in. Of course when I say "place" I'm meaning a particular room in my house, the kitchen. Allow me to explain... the women in my family are amazing cooks so like any other young lady (not interested in having that talent) growing up in a huge family with the women running the kitchen, I more preferred to just sit back and watch them. Never to get to involved in the matter of it all. Yet, somehow this weekend I got in my head that I wanted to contribute and make a dessert for our Easter sunday get together.  So I chose a simple and colorful Rainbow Cheesecake recipe.

... Not quite the simple I was hoping for. So, the simple result being: my first time to try and make a Rainbow Cheesecake didn't go too bad but it definitely didn't go well. Classic first mistakes for a rookie wanna-be pastry chef I'd have to admit. However, I refused to hang my head in defeat. Like all other non-sore-losers I stuck with my color scheme and brought an 'Easter Spectacle of Oreo Cookies'.

Words of Sound

There is something so unjustifiably right about the London band "The xx". They produce an album that infiltrates an indie rock sound, yet pushes the limits of the perfect glam rock beat. No element is over used and each track is as simply sound as the next. The format of tracks has you hopelessly unable to skip any song. If interested in conquering the 'must have' of pure talent then be sure to add The xx to that iTunes list of yours.

Friday

Just Of It

I feel that I accomplished more this week than normal. And I give myself a little bit of credit because I did my first week of blogging (I think most first time bloggers are excited over it) with a crazy schedule.  However, it was a fabulous five days and I managed to squeeze in dinner with my best girlfriend, playoff games, pilates, movie night with my significant other, event sponsorships, shopping with Mom, celebrate my dog's sixth birthday, arrange my tower of (floor to ceiling) books in an orderly fashion, plan Easter sunday... I won't keep going but you get the picture.

Enjoy the Weekend & Have a Happy Easter

-Happy Friday-

Daily Daydreamer

I have always been told that I'm a daydreamer. My best friends catch me during our dinner dates, my sister when she loses track of her story (and needs me to remind her of what got us on that topic), my boyfriend when he is explaining how something works and my Nana when my Grandpa would discuss politics. However, lately I have been realizing when I'm in that moment and have actually tried to chart my spontaneous daydreams. Keyword... tried.

{images:pinterest}

What I love most about daydreams is for the moment that you're 'off somewhere else', somehow that daydream manages to make complete sense. I don't know how the image of flamingos to a walk-in shoe closet relate to each other but either way I enjoy the thought of them both. The next time you are able to daydream and actually recognize what it is you're thinking about... try to put that random puzzle together and let me know how it goes.

Bring it on Lululemon

Lulu Puppy {image:lululemon}

Within the last 2 years I have slowly pushed my way into a new workout routine. Leaving behind dumbells and weight benches I have found my niche in fitness. Yes- I traded in my sweat pants, old t-shirts and super classy marathon socks for a slightly more sleek approach when working out. HOW? Might you ask...... to tell you the truth it was by accident. I was walking home from work and decided to change it up by taking a different block. I came across a store that had its windows blacked-out with the newspaper that had come out that same day, intrigued and impressed with the marketing strategy I went in. Like a child approaching the first day of school, I shyly opened the doors into Lululemon's store.

Thinking back now, I received more insight on changing my workout to changing my lifestyle than I ever knew a stranger could share. Not only did I acquire a new workout wardrobe that day but I finally (after talking about it for too long) was led in the direction of yoga and pilates. Never once looking back.

Embracing the Chaos

It seems that I have had a certain habit that just recently was brought to my attention. When I would step into my home all I would notice is unfinished projects, other semi-finished projects and more 'to-do' list projects. If this is also what you notice when you walk into your place you may want to consider what it is your roommate, or in my case, significant other sees. Our studio apartment in Manhattan was not only an over priced shoebox but it also ended up being my office, my craft center, my event planning boutique and an archive closet for my collection of fashion print. So finally realizing the mess I had taken part in, I took a weekend and finished all the redecorating projects for the apartment..... and wouldn't you know my (many) projects began to get easier to complete.

As I laugh to myself, all I can say is embrace the chaos that is you. Yet, do try to remember that the people whom also embrace your chaos might see this as a habit.... possibly even a bad habit... but never the less a habit that I so blissfully call "hobbies".

The "after"

I love red doors, so I made them all red :)

The "before"
By the way, we have recently moved into a larger place.... and I continue to have my "hobbies".  :)

Words of Sound

If you’re looking for that entrance to down the rabbit hole, I believe I can show you the way.  Nine Types of Light is a romantic, mystifying and even has a psychedelic notion in its track list.  This is TV on the Radio’s fourth album and I must say it has peaked its way to my “most played” i-Tunes list.  So take your time, listen, indulge, react and put Nine Types of Light on your music list.

April Showers Bring

There is something to be said about the month of April. To me it seems like things start going again, that we simply begin to leave that winter bliss and approach what warmer weather has in store for us.
