Black & White Complex

When I'm out and about looking for new pieces to add to my home I tend to take a certain direction. I have a sweet spot for anything that is black and pretty much everything that is solid white. I spiral back and forth between a simple rustic-modern approach or a french-classic approach, I have yet to figure out which one I want the most. Yet, a city apartment seems to open up with a more simple color scheme with organized spaces and solid tailoring. So basically I concluded that I'll keep a simple modern scheme for the apartment and just have to have a few other places that can take my rustic-modern and french-classic schemes. The more homes (for me to destroy/rebuild, decorate and create) the better.

Bend It Like Bikram

I constantly continue to try and rotate my workouts. If you didn't know by now I am a Pilates entrepreneur and invest most of my training in the holistic values of Pilates and Xtend. On a whim, though, I decided that I wanted to change it up a bit- like 105 degrees up. Unfortunately for me there was no looking pretty after the Bikram Yoga class, I walked out looking like I just showered but the fact of the matter is that the benefits are completely worth the drenched downpour of sweat.

Between the twenty-six Hatha Yoga poses and the two Pranayama breathing exercises, all ninety minutes of the class will challenge, invigorate, rejuvenate and give you an effective yoga experience. Conducted in a heated room (mentioning of 105 degrees), Bikram Yoga detoxifies the body through perspiration, tones the muscles and flushes every cell and organ in the body.  No matter your age, injury, or prior Pilates or yoga experience (if any at all), this yoga will benefit your body and mind in ways that complement any workout routine.

Of A Certain Hobby

When I first moved to New York I had a serious habit of 'people watching'. Honestly, I admit that it is probably one of my favorite things to do to pass time. So during my lunch break I would head over to West 65th street and plop down on a stone hedge in front of Juilliard. Maybe it was slightly bizarre that I did this almost every Monday through Friday but the best of the best (in the arts) come out of Juilliard's glass doors- and that meant excellent people watching for me. I saw anything from the creepiest to some of the most artist of people doing their thing like any college student did. I loved when I was able to get there during the practice of their artistic projects on the campus grounds; ballerinas dancing in high fashion couture or nude leotards, actors studying their lines running into civilians passing by and some of the most amazing sounds you'll ever here from a musician practicing their solo. This intrigued me to start taking photographs of the randomness of New York (and Juilliard). However, I quickly learned that just by owning a camera does not make me a photographer. But I'll continue to keep trying and undoubtedly try to grow up to be Jan Masny, who is a fantastic photographer that I absolutely adore.

Words of Sound

Soulful, memorable, danceable, electric and unabashedly pop, the boys of Passion Pit never waver in their variety of delectable melodies. Coupling enigmatic lyrics with intricate hooks this album is blissfully setting way through the rhythmic 21st century of sound. There's an indulgent rarity that you achieve when dancing your @$$ off to this band while being able to maintain a perspective of 'cool' as you hit every high note while making your presence known among the unity of fans.

Pardon The Interruption

Dearest Friends, Followers & Fellow Bloggers:

It has been requested that I take a "Time Out" from writing about the usual- Fashion, Fitness, Food, Events, Music & Decor. As an active member of Oceana, ASPCA and PETA; just a few to mention, I have been embarking on a liberating experience. As I continue my pledge to be "a voice" I take to heart all the support that has unified around the devastating operations that have placed our many habitats in danger.
Please realize there is no claim to sainthood in my sight, I don't ask for it to be in yours either- my career is in fashion and I love what I do. However, I have made it a point to educate myself on what I wear, eat and use in my everyday life. I believe that there is a happy ending where all habitats can coexist and extinction goes extinct it's self.
All I ask that you recognize what is happening in the world around us. Educate yourself on what we can do to make a difference, even if it is the tiniest of difference... recycle your plastic water bottle and begin to use a Nalgene bottle- WOO HOO, it makes a difference. I invite you to check out and research the situations that we face in saving our habitats. Join me and 'pledge' or simply acknowledge what it is I'm blogging about. Either one, it makes a big difference.

Coming To A City Near You

Shhhhhhh... it's hush, hush
The City of Light, in all it's elegance and glamour, has dignified the meaning of a secret. Imagine walking down Avenue des Champs Elysées while minding your own business and suddenly multiples of tour buses pull up. You watch (in awwww) as thousands, yes, thousands of Parisians and Franciliens dressed in all white spill out onto the wide sidewalks where they proceeded to set up tables, cover them in white table clothes, vases of white flowers, and candelabras of white votives, and sit down to a modest feast befitting any French picnic. The champagne begins to bubble over the top of their flutes as a band (also dress in all white) plays from the top of a tour bus driving up and down the Avenue! Now, it's a party...
"This is the annual Diner en Blanc, an amazingly well-organized clandestine picnic sans permit, begrudgingly tolerated by the local police. Each year for over two decades, the location is kept secret, and the list of participants open by invitation only. Invitees are told only where and when to meet the network of busses around Paris (arranged by the mysterious organizers), which then convene together on a different surprise location each year (past picnics have been in front of Invalides, around the Place du Palais Royal, at the Arc de Triomphe)."

CAN YOU KEEP A SECRET........ Manhattan is due to be next!
I'm not sure how our NY Police Department will handle this but I'm willing to take the punishment if we can make it happen. Keep your ears open and if your invitation happens to miss you, follow up best you can and I'll see you at the "location".
I hear that Central Park is nice during this time...

Denim-Denim-Denim

I have a very bold love of denim shorts. I've even started to collect them in colors! So as the summer days only get hotter I should have a wide variety of shorts to wear in the blistering heat; totally prepared. Thus, taking the opportunity in advancing my fashion talent I've managed to wear them in many scenarios... such as wearing them with my boots- cowboy and slant riding boots, chucks, boat shoes, stilettos, wedges and even the occasional flip-flops. So if the thought crossed your mind that "No, I don't think I can pull these shorts off", I'm here to tell you that YOU CAN. Own it- wear them and wear them, again and again.

Keep Going and Going

Keeping my pace... as my sister and I train for our first full marathon I've been going through some heavy workout moments. Being tired and sore usually makes me not want to get out of bed when my morning alarm comes calling for me to do my distance strengthening warm-ups. However, through the training temper tantrums and fits that I throw- I'm reminded by the sweat, sisterly bonding, pain and positive reinforcements that this is so going to be worth it.

Timing is Everything

I have already started preparing my Australian vacation (which isn't until the Fall) wardrobe. I feel that I am a sufficient packer, as well as planner, so I tend to start early rather than cram everything into the few days before taking off. Thus far, to be honest, I have only gotten a single day's wardrobe figured out... but this is what I think I'm going with...

Words of Sound

All you need is two... a dynamic duo of vocals, guitar (Dan Auerbach) and the drums (Patrick Carney). Straight out of Ohio The Black Keys have radiated across the country with their American blues rock sound. Now recording their 7th album, which if you didn't know that I suggest you catch up on the other six, in their new studio in Nashville The Black Keys are pulling it all out and giving it the utter most garage-alternative-indie-blues sound you have EVER let slide across your hearing.

June Brings

June is wedding season in full bloom! Left and right I'm becoming an Aunt (once again) and a God-mother for the first time! This month continues to be filled with family events and extravagant plans. My boyfriend and I are in full throttle planning for our vacation to Australia for two weeks in the Fall. I am so excited for this month but also so ready for it to be over because July has so many great things evolving in its day-to-day schedule! Woo Hoo

Snap, Sparkle & Pop

It's never been a secret. I'm openly vocal when it comes to my shoe fixation. I tend to behave in an 'OCD' type of way when it comes to arranging my shoe closet- yes, I have a separate closet for my shoes. Naturally, I would like to believe that most ladies (and some gentlemen) are just as happily fixated on this compulsion as myself. In the words of my family, "take two they're small"- and that my friends is exactly what I intend to do (maybe even take two of each).
